Membership

Please clickÌý to register to become a member of the BAJS. Your BAJS membership will last one year from the day you register. By becoming a BAJS member you will receive:

  • Discounted rates on BAJS Conferences and other events.
  • Annual subscription toÌýJapan ForumÌý(four issues a year). This can be accessed online via your membership page on the BAJS website.
  • Free Conference accommodation for UK-based postgraduate presenters at BAJS conferences
  • Membership of the wider Japanese Studies community in the United Kingdom and beyond

Categories and fees

  • £10 Student/Unwaged
  • £30 Full (Tier 1) Gross annual income up to £30,000
  • £40 Full (Tier 2) Gross annual income up to £40,000
  • £50 Full (Tier 3) Gross annual income over £40,000

The British Association of Japanese Studies is an HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) approved professional body – registered as ‘Japanese Studies, British Association of’ – which means that if you are a UK tax payer, you may be eligible to claimÌý.

Please note thatÌýfrom January 2021, every BAJS member who has reached the age of 65 will receive a free life membership to our Charity and Journal.ÌýPlease get in touch if this applies to you by writing to us atÌýbajs@bajs.org.uk

Online Membership

All membership subscriptions are handled online and are paid via a secure online payment system (PayPal). As well as the advantages of being able to pay for your subscription using your credit / debit card, the system allows members to log in to the BAJS website and manage their personal details (contact address, email etc).Ìý

If you are an existingÌý member and need a reminder of your login details for the site, you can obtain this via theÌý.

Please take a moment when renewing your subscription to check that all your membership details, including email and postal contact addresses are correct and current, and amend your membership record if necessary.
